Overview

Diploma in Hydraulic Principles - Level 4

Hydraulic technology is a widely used technology that uses chemistry, engineering, applied science and other sciences to manufacture products and processes. It is used in many aspects of life from producing kitchen dishwashers, to mechanical engineering, which is why it is vital to be well versed with the hydraulic principles to have a successful career in mechanical engineering, construction, automotive and aerospace engineering. This Diploma in Hydraulic Principles – Level 4 has been developed exactly for this purpose and will get you upto speed with hydraulic principles in no time.

The Hydraulic Principles course will give you insights into the Archimedes theory and the hydraulic principles to brief you on how the hydraulic technology works. You will get to learn about topics such as atmospheric pressure, geometric arguments, vacuum and hydrostatic paradox, after which the Hydraulic Principles course will explore backflows and actual backflows to understand why it happens. The Hydraulic Principles course is also focused on enlightening you about the NPSH (Net Positive Suction Head) and how to calculate it for a piping system.

A pump is the heart of a hydraulic system that converts mechanical energy to hydraulic energy. Therefore, the Hydraulic Principles course has dedicated a few modules that will tutor you on the pump operation, various types of pumps and pump performance and curves. The Hydraulic Principles course will also provide you with the opportunity to understand about devices such as coupling and mechanical seals that are essential in a hydraulic technology.

The Hydraulic Principles course has been endorsed under the Quality Licence Scheme. The completion of the Hydraulic Principles course alone does not lead to a regulated qualification* but may be used as evidence of knowledge and skills gained. The Learner Unit Summary may be used as evidence towards Recognition of Prior Learning if you wish to progress your studies in this subject. To this end the learning outcomes of the Hydraulic Principles course have been benchmarked at Level 2 against level descriptors published by Ofqual, to indicate the depth of study and level of demand/complexity involved in successful completion by the learner.

The Hydraulic Principles course itself has been designed by Imperial Learning Limited* to meet specific learners’ and/or employers’ requirements which cannot be satisfied through current regulated qualifications.

The Quality Licence Scheme endorsement involves robust and rigorous quality audits by external auditors to ensure quality is continually met. A review of courses is carried out as part of the endorsement process.

Eligible for TOTUM card - TOTUM is the #1 student discount card and app giving you access to exclusive student deals on food and fashion, tech and travel and everything in between.

*Regulated qualification refers to those qualifications that are regulated by Ofqual / CCEA / Qualification Wales

FAQs

Study method describes the format in which the course will be delivered. At Reed Courses, courses are delivered in a number of ways, including online courses, where the course content can be accessed online remotely, and classroom courses, where courses are delivered in person at a classroom venue.

CPD stands for Continuing Professional Development. If you work in certain professions or for certain companies, your employer may require you to complete a number of CPD hours or points, per year. You can find a range of CPD courses on Reed Courses, many of which can be completed online.

A regulated qualification is delivered by a learning institution which is regulated by a government body. In England, the government body which regulates courses is Ofqual. Ofqual regulated qualifications sit on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF), which can help students understand how different qualifications in different fields compare to each other. The framework also helps students to understand what qualifications they need to progress towards a higher learning goal, such as a university degree or equivalent higher education award.

An endorsed course is a skills based course which has been checked over and approved by an independent awarding body. Endorsed courses are not regulated so do not result in a qualification - however, the student can usually purchase a certificate showing the awarding body's logo if they wish. Certain awarding bodies - such as Quality Licence Scheme and TQUK - have developed endorsement schemes as a way to help students select the best skills based courses for them.
